Woes of a workaholic

The job was completed
The contract not renewed
All strength depleted
To bid a fair adieu

So long corner desk
With radiators overheated
No view less picturesque
But who could see while seated?

Handed back folders
Files, disks and drives
Soon to feel the doldrums
Of time passing by

Double-checked it all
Nothing left behind but a soul-piece
Fare well down the way of the hall
To give back the golden key

In response to Golden Key

Here you can find a beautiful poem on the same subject by I of July. Its simplicity accentuates its significance. Check it out and follow his blog for more wonderful things!
